Following the motto of one of my compositions "Birds Have To Fly", I embarked 1984 on a long musical journey that took me from my native town Amsterdam to Berlin, Munich, Budapest, Athens, Linz, Passau finally to Paris where I live since 2007. Always accompanied by my tenorsaxophone, living the chances that life and music offers.
Some of the many groups and musicians I have been working with in the last few years:
Truc de Kezzek www.trucdekezzek.com
Sam Rivers Rivbea Big Band
Oliver Lake Quintet (Tribute to Eric Dolphy)
Mikis Theodorakis
Ack Van Rooijen
Doug Hammond Trio
Paul Zauner Blue Brass
What I would like to achieve through music is best described by Irving Stone in his book -Lust For Life- where he talks about the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh; ".....he wished to express not sentimental melancholy but serious sorrow and joy. He wanted to reach out so far that the people would say of his work 'He feels deeply, he feels tenderly' ".
